What about dreams?

There are a variety of ways through which God speaks to us or relay His plans to us. We often have to listen to God in these different ways or discern by them. For example; the Scripture (the Word of God) is a very common way through which God speaks to us. So how does this work? We invite the Holy Spirit to speak to us while we study We listen while we study a passage By listening we begin to discern how it applies to us – what God is saying, and sometimes questions are raised: Does it apply to me at that point in time? Or is it in fact for someone else (maybe a friend)? And then we pray into the scriptures and our thoughts to get more guided answers (which might sometimes include going through the loop again or prophecy or some signs…) Same applies when we receive a prophetic word from God (from/for a friend or for ourselves): we think about it, is it relevant or applicable to me? As a prophetic word, does it have scriptural savour?... Now the question is: what about dream...

Discerning His Perfect Will

If you're just joining us, this post is part of a duo-session (previous was Living in Perfect Peace ). Merry Christmas again - with everything being Christmassy, we'll ride on for the session. Romans 12:1-2; I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The scripture in Romans lets us know that discernment and direction is a bye product of wholehearted devotion to God. The Old Testament usually refer this as 'the fear of God' - e.g. Psalms 25:12,14, Proverbs 1:10, Psalm 111:10. Three points to note here: Present your bodies as a living sacrifice : 'holiness - the fear of God' Be not conformed to this world : 'holiness - the fear of God' Be transformed by the...
